Alpha Paging Web Site / Web Paging SendPage / JSM Telecommunications Inc. FAQ

Q: What does JSM Send-A-Page do?

A: JSM Send-A-Page allows sending an alpha-numeric message to a JSM Tele-Page pager via the World Wide Web.  The primary benefits of Send-A-Page are that there are no phone charges in calling a pager (except for any Internet connections), and no additional software beyond a web browser is needed.

Q: So what pagers will JSM Send-A-Page work with?

A:  Send-A-Page can send a message to any JSM Tele-Page alpha-numeric pager.

Q: Sounds good.  So how do I send a page?

A: You'll need to go the Send-A-Page web page, http://www.jsmcom.com/sendpage/. Your PIN number is the seven-digit telephone number of the pager.   Your message can consist of up to 120 alpha-numeric characters.  After typing in this information, click on the Send button.

Q: When I try to send my page, I get a message that my browser couldn't access the server.  Why?

A: The error message that you receive for this error is the same one that would occur whenever there is a problem accessing an Internet site.  If you receive this error, then our web server must be down.

Q:  How will I know if my page has been sent?

A: If you are able to get to the results screen that says "your message was added to the queue" then you can use our new Check Status feature.  Wait about 30 seconds and then click on the Check Status button.  It usually takes between 45 seconds and a minute for the page to be dialed from our server.  You should continue pressing the Check Status button every 30 seconds or so until you see that your page was sent.

If after two minutes you do not get a confirmation message, then your page has not been sent.  Most likely, the pager number you have entered is invalid, and thus a message cannot be sent.  It is also possible that an unforseen system interface problem occurred, which would result in your page being delayed.

Q: Is there a charge for web paging?

No.  However, overcall charges still apply.

Q: Is JSM Send-A-Page operational at this very moment?

A: Check here.  When we anticipate Send-A-Page downtime, we'll post a message there.  Also, during prolonged outages, we'll inform you to that effect there.

Q: Are there any situations where JSM Send-A-Page could be especially useful?

A: In the event of paging system emergencies (such as telephone cable cuts), we'll try to keep Send-A-Page operational.  Depending on the circumstances, it might be possible to keep JSM Send-A-Page running in instances where the rest of the paging system is inaccessible.  If you are having difficulties sending a page during such an outage and you need to send a page, give JSM Send-A-Page a try.
